Fighting

There are times when things will rip you apart,
Completely gut you,
And push  you back to start.

There are times when life is going to shove you down,
Run your body over concrete,
And slam you into the unforgiving ground.

There are times when people will cut you with lies,
Make you scream until your lungs burst,
And try until all you do is repeat cries.

There are times when the universe laughs in your face,
Makes you believe everythings okay,
And then pushes you back, hard, into an unsteady place.

There are times like these where you will give up,
Throw your head in your hands,
And force the world to shut up.

There are times like these when you need to stand up,
Put down your white flag,
And put your hand up.

There are times like these when you're forced to be strong,
Pour out your last tear,
And sing the last sorrow ladened song.

There are times like these when you realize,
You've become a fighter,
And it happened right in front of their eyes.

There are times like these where you have grown better,
Learned your weakness,
And held yourself together.
